Services

M.O.M. provides an array of services to both concerned citizens as well as to community groups seeking greater knowledge and understanding of the unique nature of homicide.

Victim Advocacy

M.O.M is an advocate for victims’ rights. We provide support and accompaniment to all criminal justice proceedings. We speak in support of victims and victims’ right on the local, state and national levels.

Blessing Bags

We provide bags to include snacks, toiletries, and daily essentials that we may take for granted but it can be a blessing to someone living on the streets. The Kansas City Unsolved flyer is also included as they may have some information to help solve a crime.

Crime Violence Coalition

If your homicide is unsolved, we will add your loved one to the Kansas City Unsolved Homicide flyer. Canvas neighborhoods. Place billboards. Speak on behalf of the families when they are unable to use their voice.

Loss Love

Assist families with making funeral arrangements. Direct them on how to get funds to pay for the funeral. Embrace the family with love while understanding what services they may need to benefit them during their time of grief.

Referral to Resources for Victims

We help families by referring them to social service agencies and providing them with resources that they may need in order to reduce their added stress during the grieving process.

Task Force Development

We collaborate with other organizations and join forces with those of like minds that are willing to make a difference, as there is power in numbers.

Preventative Education

We offer personal safety educational programs to children and youth, adults, older adults and individuals with disabilities in schools, community centers, and professional settings in the Kansas City Metropolitan area.

Restorative Justice Principles

We believe that offenders should be rehabilitated. We will reconcile with offenders by allowing them to see and hear the stories of families that has lost a loved one to violence and how it affects a community.

Victim Education and Rights

The victims and their surviving families have rights. We educate families and provide them with resources that will help them better understand the process of losing a loved one to a violent crime.

Counseling

M.O.M. provides absolutely free one-on-one short-term counseling to help victims, their families and significant others to identify and work through their thoughts and feelings surrounding their victimization.

Monthly Grief Support Groups

We have monthly meetings to help surviving family members who have suffered a traumatic loss on the 3rd Monday of every month at 7pm at Margaret’s Place.

Peer Counseling

We understand what families have been through and sometimes they just want a listening ear. We have conversations with families who have similar stories and situations.
